n the 1940s, author John Steinbeck accompanied friend and marine biologist Ed Ricketts on a sailing expedition from California to the Sea of Cortez to collect marine samples. A decade later, the East Cape of Baja had become a playground for celebrities and fishermen alike. From former president Dwight Eisenhower to Bing Crosby, this virtually untouched region along the Baja’s eastern cape became a place of solace for the adventurous. 

 

Casa Carpenter is located in the heart of this pristine paradise in the small enclave of beach homes known as Spa Buenavista, named for the hot springs that provides the neighborhood with drinkable spring water (a rarity).  Casa Carpenter is just 5 miles north of Costa Palmas and the Four Seasons Resort Hotel and is approximately 45 minutes from the San Jose del Cabo Airport. 

 

With 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths and over 3,700 square feet of house and another 4,000+ feet of covered patio and terraces, Casa Carpenter is a luxurious respite from the world and is equipped with everything you will need to make the most of your time in what Jacques Cousteau coined "The World's Aquarium." Casa Carpenter contains beautiful tile, stainless steel appliances, stone enhancements and a variety of Mexican and fine art.

 

From the moment you walk through the door, you’ll notice the attention to detail of this seaside getaway. Stepping out the sliding glass doors on the sea-side of the house, you’ll step right onto a private terrace overlooking the Sea of Cortez. Step down two steps, and your toes are in perfect white sand. Enter the crystal-clear water in front of the house and your toes can find where the hot “spa” water bubbles up from the bottom of the sea. Our beach is ideal for relaxing, swimming, snorkling, fishing, boating, jet-skying, wind sailing or watching for whales and dolfins. The pool, on the opposite side of the house, contains a “Baja shelf” where you can place your chaise lounge for ultimate relaxation.

 

Excellent snorlking and scuba diving can be found in Cabo Pulmo, a national marine reserved located about 30 miles to the south. For those that want a change of pace from laid back Spa Buenavista, Cabo San Lucas, with its excellent restaurants, shopping, nightlife, world class golf courses, and other amenities is approximately 90 minutes away. La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur is approximately the same distance to the north.  Two small, rustic hotels are a short walk down our beach where you can have a cocktail or enjoy a meal right in the neighborhood.
